I love updating my makeup bag for a new season, especially when things start to get festive! The christmas lights are up, red cups are everywhere and I’ve already consumed around 3 packets of mince pies. I thought it was only time to introduce some berry tones and glittering golds into my everyday routine. Here are a few simple ways I have been updating my makeup bag for winter.
The Nars Copacabana Illuminator is a staple for me. As soon as we approach the festive season I tend to mix this in with my everyday primer for a beautiful, champagne glow but it also works beautifully on its own as a liquid highlighter. It’s not too shimmery and catches the light perfectly. Copacabana is such a cult product and deserves to be in every makeup bag! The illuminators come in 4 different shades to suit every skin tone and enhance a glow.
I mean no festive season makeup look would be complete without a few berry shades for good measure. I usually stick to the same few each year as I have found the ones that work best for me. Charlotte Tilbury’s Love Liberty is my go-to berry lip. it’s not to dark or vampy but has enough berry kick to make a statement. The velvety matte finish is comfortable to wear and glides on so smoothly. A winter lip staple!
I’m a huge lover of nude nails with a pop of gold glitter. The Essie range is my absolute favourite and especially their winter shades. I only tend to wear deep burgundy hues in the winter so I always invest in a few new classics. I love Essie’s Bordeux for a deep, vampy red. It looks beautiful with the gold glitter in Tassle Shaker, also from Essie. I can’t wait to pick up some more festive top coats and experiment with glitter accents.
The festive season wouldn’t be complete without some rose gold shades. I love the warm, coppery tones for a real christmassy makeup look. The L’Oreal Merry Metals Glow Kit* is stunning and perfect for pale skin girls. I’m all for metallics so this collection of highlighting powders is perfect for so many different festive makeup looks. The pigment applies really naturally and not at all chalky which I love for a daytime glow.
So that’s how I’m updating my makeup bag for winter, what are your festive favourites?
