A Wintery Evening Routine

There’s something about wintery evenings that make it so easy to wind down and relax. I think it’s the dark evenings, over indulging in salted caramel hot chocolates and owning all the cosy loungewear. Considering I usually spend most of the winter hibernating inside I have pretty much perfected my wintery evening routine.

Create a cosy atmosphere – The first I do when I get home is make the house all cosy. I love to turn on all of the fairy lights, have a quick tidy up of any clutter and go around lighting my favourite comforting candles. I’ve recently added a few extra cushions to the sofa and picked up the fluffiest blush pink blanket I could find! These simple little steps instantly brighten my mood on those dark wintery evenings and make me feel nothing but happy to have an evening inside. Here’s a whole cosy night in to-do list!

Skin care routine – I’m the first to admit that self care is our last thought when we start to get overwhelmed. With not much else to do on a cold, winters night there’s no excuse not to look after ourselves a little more. I love making a hot cup of tea and adding a few extra steps to my skincare routine for the ultimate pamper. I’m loving the Glossier Moon Mask and Super Bounce Serum for fresh, glowing skin come morning.

Take some time out for yourself – After I’ve done my skincare routine I love to curl up on the sofa under a pile of blankets and watch some TV. It’s totally my guilty pleasure and something I rarely have time for! If I’m not watching TV I’ll be under a layer of Rose Jam Bubbles in the bath, or in the kitchen baking some maple and cinnamon granola for the week ahead.

Prepare for a good nights sleep – I have found the dreamiest duo for ensuring I get a good 8 hours. I can’t sleep without spraying the This Works Pillow Spray which has the loveliest lavender scent. I always be sure to moisturise using the Lush’s Sleepy, it’s the only moisturiser I actually look forward to applying! It’s a winter staple for sure.

  • Your winter evening routine sounds so lovely. Mine is similar, except it usually involves a huge bowl of hot soup and multiple cups of herbal tea!

  • I love wintery evenings too, there is something about lighting my favourite candles and reading a book or watching a movie that beats any other plans! I am looking for a new moisturiser so might give this Lush one a try as I love Lush products in general! x

  • Aw this post really made me miss winter, it’s very up and down this year in Australia as it’s stinking hot one minute then freezing cold the next. We’re supposed to be heading into summer now. I’m yet to find a good sleeping pattern so those sleepy products sound great!

  • Love this post! I always light some candles and take my time with my skincare routine. It is so relaxing! I can’t go to bed without a cup of tea, either. 🙂

  • Lovely post! I like to light an autumn scented candle, prepare a cup of hot chocolate or tea, turn on my fairy lights, and snuggle with my puppy and watch a movie. ♥

Creating a cosy atmosphere truly is one of the best ways to chill out over the winter – candles, blankets, fluffy socks, fairy lights, films and hot chocolates are the perfect combination.

  • Ahh, there is just something so much better in winter evenings than summer. My winter evening routine starts so early on my free days! Like, 3pm! Just some TV or book, candles, maybe facemasks… Just those “boring” amazing things xx
