When we first moved out in the summer our first priority was making the house feel like a home. I had a head full of Pinterest ideas from way too many late night scrolling sessions yet minimal time to achieve our dream apartment. Having always lived in one house, that was totally my comfort zone, I needed to find a few ways to accessorise a new home whilst still feeling cosy. I still believe that of these accessories ultimately helped us settle in a whole lot quicker!

Invest in beautiful candles – No home is cosy and complete without a candle on just about every surface! I light them every single day to instantly achieve a warm, welcoming atmosphere. A few of my favourites have been the Arum Coconut & Lime scent for fresh, sunny days to instantly lift the mood. For cosy autumnal evenings inside the White Company’s Winter candle is a staple and one of my all time favourites. Finally for the days where I’m working away at home the Diptyque Baies is a must! The scent is absolutely beautiful and never gets overwhelming. All of these create the most comforting, homey feel.

Seasonal details – We have a few shelves (styling post here) filled with beautiful gold, pink and seasonal details. I love switching these around to keep things looking fresh all of the time. I find it super therapeutic rearranging all of shelves and switching up the look to suit the season. I like to pile books together with beautiful trinket dishes, candle holders and vases with a flower or two. My favourite places to shop for little personal details are H&M Home, Oliver Bonas and Urban Outfitters. I can’t wait to introduce some festive pieces soon!

Cushions, throws and soft furnishings – One thing I was obsessed with buying was cushions and throws. As you all know I love the whole hygge feel (a whole post on being super cosy here) and nothing creates a cosy corner better than piles of soft, oversized blankets! One of the easiest ways to accessorise a new home is through soft furnishings. I’m currently loving this super fun set of bedding, velvet cushions and pom pom throws.

Fresh blooms & house plants – I am forever buying fresh flowers for the apartment. I try to keep them alive for as long as possible just to be a little more cost effective but I really enjoy buying a new bunch. I love filling every blank space with a little vase and fresh blooms to add a pop of colour and brighten the overall area. They really are the instant pick me up for any home! One thing I’ve decided to give a go at this year is house plants. Although it’s still early days I’m obsessed with the little pops of greenery around our home.

Wall art and posters – One thing I couldn’t wait to do is accessorise our new home with dreamy wall art. I am obsessed with all of my Desenio prints and they have totally transformed our home. I’m obsessed with the gold frames, super minimalistic designs and scandi vibe they inject into our apartment.

What are your tips on how to accessorise a new home?
