Makeup Storage and StylingOver the last year one of my most requested posts has been along the lines of how I store and display my makeup. I’ve never really had a specific makeup storage routine or set up and I’ve never been one to hang on to old makeup either! Now I’m happier with my room I thought I would share some of my tips on using what you have already have to make the most of your makeup storage and styling.

Display > I love playing around with different ways to display my favourite products. I’m constantly updating what I have on show, whether that be on my bedside table set up or just on the side for effect. Styling products for each season is a massive part of creating a pretty space and it really helps with rotating your collection too. I love changing things around and it makes for great blogging backgrounds too! I’m super happy with how it’s looking right now, but practise and playing around is key.
I love these little marble trays from H&M as they look beautiful on the side filled with different items. They are so inexpensive too! A lovely way to display items is to pile up a handful of books, add some flowers and finish off with your current go-to lipsticks/foundations popped on top of a marble tray. This helps me to feel organised whilst showcasing beautiful packaging. Picking up a few of these trinkets every now and then help to build up your prop collection so you can always create a fresh looking space.

Storage > I cannot wait to invest in some proper pinterest worthy makeup storage but have yet to find the ‘one’. I’m great at saving used candle jars for an easy way to store makeup brushes and tools. It’s super convenient when you’re looking for a particular one and looks great on the side. For something a little more fancy I’m currently obsessed with these beautiful marble makeup holders! For ideas and inspiration I tend to look on Pinterest as they have so many original and beautiful tips for makeup storage and styling.
I’m constantly on the lookout for pretty little pots and glasses for different ways to hold products. I actually find some of the best ones in Anthropologie, TK Maxx and H&M Home which are normally at a good price. Most of the time it’s not even meant for makeup but as long as it looks good it works, small vases are great for this! If they aren’t filled with brushes I’ll pop in cotton pads, my most used nail colours or even some everyday lipsticks. For a neater option I use pretty makeup bags for any older, slightly worn products.

Behind the scenes > Most of my products are actually kept tucked away in my cupboard or drawers. These are generally the everyday necessities no one needs to see or the products I don’t reach for as often. I have old Jo Malone boxes for different products so it’s easy to get too whilst being organised. One is full of nail polishes, one for bolder lipsticks and one for general things I want to keep all in one place.

What are your tips and tricks for makeup storage and styling?

  • I’m loving the marble trays!! I use acrylic boxes and drawers from Muji, and I like that it’s easy to see where everything is and it doesn’t look to bad either!! x

  • I love your photography today, it’s so on point, especially the styling <3 I wish I could get cute decoration from H&M here, but the prices are so inflated it really defeats the purpose of it being affordable! However, Kmart here is ah-maaaazing for home decor, they really keep up with current trends =D I made my own makeup storage by creating dividers out of foam core boards for my drawers, and it really makes full use of the space available!

I really wanted Pinterest-worthy storage for the top of my desk, but aside from reusing candle jars, I couldn't find much else that I liked – I wasn't even crazy about Muji drawer dupes.
