Feel Good Makeup For January

feel good makeup

January has to be one of the most dreaded months of the year. Although it feels like a fresh start for some, the majority of us seem to feel slightly sluggish as if we are suffering with some sort of festive hangover. My skin for one has definitely seen better days so I have put together my everyday feel good makeup for January to help us all feel a little bit better about ourselves!

Dewy, fresh faced skin: I have been using a mixture of two bases recently, the first one being the Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue. It’s super hydrating for dryer skin types, has a light coverage and a beautiful glow. I tend to mix this one with a high coverage concealer but it’s great at perfecting my skin in a natural, effortless way. An old favourite is the Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation. I honestly could not recommend this one enough, it works wonders for my complexion whilst giving amazing coverage. For a more immaculate finish I love using a makeup sponge to hide all traces of makeup application. The Beauty Blender is really durable and ensures any base (or face product for that matter) is blended into the skin in the most lightweight and undetectable way.

Bright, pink blush: After a applying a dewy foundation and perfecting my skin, I love to apply a bright blush to add some colour back into my skin. The Nars Dolce Vita blusher is perfect for a achieving that winters glow and once it’s blended in it can look beautiful. The shade is an antique rose that creates lovely depth to the cheeks and for a seamless finish I love using my Beauty Blender for a soft focus application.

Soft, golden eyes: Bronze toned eyeshadows are an everyday staple for me. This little NYX Palette is perfect for mornings I’m short on time and want something brightening. It’s super easy to create a handful of different looks with the mixture of golds, matte browns and a lighter shade for highlighting. It really is an all round lovely palette with highly pigmented shadows.

Natural lips: I wear lipstick on a daily basis as I just don’t feel myself without one. I have been living in MAC’s Boldy Bare since Christmas day and I love it! It’s a super natural yet perfecting lip liner that brightens my overall makeup. To emphasise the pinky, peach tones I apply a little bit of the NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Stockholm or Athens over the top. This combo always makes me feel good!

  • Really need to get a new beauty blender, I haven’t had one for a few weeks now and I actually really miss using it for my foundation and concealer!

  • I love bare minerals for an everyday base, I like the idea of mixing it in with some concealer too as usually my skin needs a tad more coverage x

The nyx lip creams are amazing. The shade London is my go to everyday lipstick at the moment x

  • I really want to try that Bourjois foundation but I can’t get it where I live. My feel-good-makeup is a little similar, I want a fresh face and soft bronzy/gold eyes. x

  • I love using the beauty blender for my base. I gently pat it around my face and it’s honestly the best part of my makeup routine. It’s so calming and relaxing especially when I am half-awake every morning 🙂

  • This photograph is so dreamy! Love your picks, I really want to try bareMinerals Complexion Rescue, and that NARS blush is still on my wish list! Gorgeous shade.

  • I also have a BareMinerals ‘foundation’ but it’s their less well-known/underrated serum foundation which is amazing for all skin types (mine is combination)! I need to get me a beauty blender now that I have a proper job, because the rave reviews are seriously tempting me… my feel good makeup is definitely the Omorovicza BB cream though, great coverage and my skin looks flawless without using too much.

  • I tend to shy away from blush as I always feel I make it look a little too harsh, definitely going to try applying it with a beauty blender next time- I’d never thought of that, thanks for the tip!

  • I love the bareminerals complexion rescue – such a great lightweight base!
