A couple of weeks ago I booked a little spontaneous trip to London for a festive weekend away. I had the whole weekend off and wanted to take advantage of this free time to fit in some last minute shopping, Christmas light spotting and hot chocolate drinking in amongst the festive atmosphere of the city. It definitely didn’t disappoint. I loved being back in London, I’ve been back and forth a lot this year and each time I always discover something new, whether that be a new borough to explore, a hidden gem or a cosy coffee shop. Every time I step off the train it feels great to be back and I’ve never been to London at Christmas so I was eager to explore! I always get super snap happy whilst wondering around aimlessly in London, it literally is my favourite thing to do! I can’t wait to spend even more time there next year in between a few other trips I have planned.
One of my highlights of the trip was watching the ice skating at Somerset house. We got there first thing on Sunday morning straight after breakfast and stood around people watching for a good hour or so. If you head down there then I 100% recommend the hot chocolates in the Fortnum & Mason Lodge. Although a little pricey they were the perfect winters treat and I haven’t stopped thinking about them since! I actually managed to do pretty much all of my Christmas shopping as well which was so much fun!
I thought these night time shots of London from the weekend were the perfect photos to end the year on. It was seriously magical looking at all of the different displays in each street. I’m definitely going to make the effort to go again this time next year. I wrapped up warm in this cosy leopard print coat which was perfect for the winter weather.
I’m officially signing off for the holidays now! I’ve decided to take a week or so off to enjoy Christmas and make the most of the festive season. I’m going to try my hardest to totally switch off for a while ready to start afresh in January. I always miss blogging but I can’t wait to come back with new ideas, inspiration and catch up with all of your Christmassy posts one evening! I don’t think you can ever be too old to enjoy the festive season and I will 100% miss it when it’s over. There’s no better feeling than the couple of days if not weeks that build up to the 25th of December and I want to make the most of what is left!
Have a lovely Christmas and let me know if you have been to London at Christmas!
