Working long hours, running a blog part time and keeping up with a social life can sometimes make switching off in the evenings slightly difficult. I’m definitely in need of a good nights sleep in order to function throughout the day so I’ve had to find a few favourite ways to unwind to ensure I feel relaxed.
Make a hot drink: Pouring myself a hot drink is my go-to for a quick fix after a long day. A simple cup of tea or a cosy hot chocolate easily help me to relax for the evening. It’s definitely one of my ‘hygge’ rituals especially for the winter with an oversized blanket and some good tv!
An evening skincare routine: As soon as I start my evening skincare routine I know it’s the beginning to switching off for the rest of the night. As soon as I’m done for the day I spend around 10 minutes removing my makeup, cleansing and just all round looking after my skin. Roger & Gallet* have always been a trusted household name so testing their new ‘Aura Mirabillis’ skincare range was a pleasure, especially when it’s this beautiful. The ‘Beauty Vinegar‘ refreshes my skin after cleansing and doubles up as a toner. It’s hydrating, calming and formed with natural ingredients. The ‘Double Extract‘ is a silky serum that revives and restores the complexion. Both products smell divine, infuse the skin with radiance and are the perfect way to unwind after a long day.
Write a list: If I’m really struggling to switch off I write a list of everything that’s on my mind so I can pick up from where I left off the following morning. This really helps me to stop overthinking and clear my head in order for a good nights sleep!
Create a cosy space: I love getting my room ready for an evening in. Lighting candles, turning on the fairy lights and filling my bed with pillows make it super hard to stay awake! I always look forward to doing this and it’s super relaxing! It’s even more perfect after a hot bubble bath.
What are your favourite ways to unwind?
